A thought leader
in your corner?

This is a chance for you to do something that
you probably don't get to do nearly enough.

Think.

Yes, of course.
You think all the time.
We all do. But what is rare for most of us, myself included (that's how I know), is to think deeply, spaciously, patiently, boldly.

To invest, to give yourself the gift of regular, uninterrupted time to do the one thing that your company, your colleagues, your investors expect of you – damn, that you expect of yourself:

To bring your full intelligence, experience, insight, heart, intuition, and wisdom to bear. Not only keeping busy doing,
deciding, and "managing," but thinking.
Which is what they pay you for. Or should.
I invite you to join me in an experiment…
…an experiment that I'm conducting with a handful of carefully selected business and sustainability leaders. (Well, I should be clear: you're selecting me.)
We'll engage in a thinking partnership—
—a series of unstructured, undirected conversations for possibility, exploring aspirations, expectations, innovations, interpretations, assumptions, in unbounded, rigorous, serious, playful, and creative strolls together through each others' minds, experiences, cares, and deepest commitments

—to a world that works, and to doing business that prospers by contributing to that world.

Working with Gil as a thinking partner has delivered tremendous value to me personally and professionally.  He’s helped me think through the big picture, frame up tough challenges in productive ways, anticipate and plan for difficult situations before they arise, challenge myself, and – maybe most importantly – reconnect with my own sense of self-confidence and joy at finding and doing work I love.

What will we talk about?
That's up to you, of course, but I'll suggest that we start with what's most important to you, most challenging—and perhaps most unaddressed.

I don't know what that will be for you, but it will likely includes matters personal, practical, and ontological.
Personal
Power and poise

Momentum and serentiy

Insight and power…

Practical
Strategy

Clarity

Leverage

Ontological
Being and mood

Speaking and listening

Words and worlds

Once you join me, you'll get:
a deep thinking partnership with one of the pioneers of the sustainable business phenomenon—a deeply experienced advisor to innovative companies and courageous leaders.

I'll challenge you, provoke you, support you, and help you discover and deliver breakthroughs for your company, your career, and yourself.

But here's the thing about thinking
I said up above "Yes, of course, you think all the time. We all do." But we don't. Thinking isn't something we do; it's something that happens to us. Something that arises in us—in response to experience, circumstance, history, and the background context that Heidegger called "the clearing."

And in conversation. With each other and with ourselves.

You see, thinking is not something we do individually. We think together, fed by all the interactions we've ever had, our neurobiochemistry altered in real time by the interactions we're having right now.

Sometimes "thinking" stands in the way of listening—as when you listen to what's being said though the filters of your already beliefs and your planned responses. Sometimes "thinking" stands in the way of thinking.

So I propose an experiment:
Let's cultivate an unusual sort of conversation, in which we'll talk together. To think together. In startling and powerful ways.

Let's uncover something that neither of could have gotten to on our own.

Let's shake up the common sense that we are all trapped in.

Let's explore ways of navigating this time between worlds—when we teeter on the brink of a new era, not yet named.

Will you join me?

Who am I?
"I'm Gil Friend, CEO of Natural Logic, a boutique consultancy that has advised HP, Levis, Sunpower, and many others, and helped them uncover "massive value" — their words, not mine— on their sustainability journeys.

I've coached founders and executives, served in the California Governors Office and as a Chief Sustainability Officer, been a serial entrepreneur in energy, agriculture, tech and media, and written and spoken extensively on strategy and sustainability.

I've been called a thought leader—and one of the top ten sustainability voices in the US by The Guardian.

But I've found that "leadership" really happens in partnership. Hence this offer to you.
The fine print
I'll treat these conversations as confidential, if you like. You may treat them as your own, to share or not, as you choose.

We'll meet electronically, or on walks, or over the beverage of your choice, depending on your preferences and logistics. We'll generally schedule them for an hour or two at a stretch, at a time of your convenience, to give us room to go deep. (But our schedules can be as flexible as our conversations.)
The bottom line
You'll invest your time, your concerns, your commitments, and your imagination, for less than the cost of a day of consulting per month, for multiples of six months.

You'll get regular weekly conversations, provocative readings, and full access to me, my experience, and my networks. And…
My promise to you:
I can't guarantee results, since that will depend on you as well as me. But I will promise you me in your corner—full on—and a new view of yourself, your possibilities, and your future. And your capacity to bring that future to fruition.
